17Photos has three parts: The desktop app, this website, and some specialized services.
Desktop App
The 17Photos Desktop is an authoring tool for your stories. The stories are created either as Albums or Phaces and can be viewed locally on the desktop, exported to a removable drive in HTML format or uploaded to this website for community viewing.
The desktop implements a sophisticated photo organizing system based on the "5W's": Who, What, When, Where and Why. The 5Ws help you quickly find the photos that you need.

Website
The 17Photos.org website provides a platform for public viewing of designated individual stories and browsing the composite Phaces. We use a sophisticated system that builds on the 5W tags you applied to the items in your uploaded albums to help find what you want and not wander about.
The website will also provide for private viewing of albums. A private album can be useful if you really don't want to share with the world but can't get your album to someone you love because, perhaps, they are so very far away.
